Crow’s feet? Creased forehead? Sweaty armpits? Botox is regularly touted as a solution in the Swiss media, but few reports mention the animal cruelty involved.

A Swiss animal rights group, the Verein gegen Tierfabriken Schweiz (VgT), has been staging demonstrations to raise awareness of the problem.

“There’s been a lot reported on botox, but very little about the animal cruelty aspect. So the best thing is to provoke,” according to VgT president Erwin Kessler.

Sheltered deep within the Bernese Oberland, two old military bunkers now serve as maximum security vaults for the use of an international clientele.

Swiss Fort Knox borrows its name from the Kentucky version, which happens to be the home of the United States Bullion Depository. The focus is on secure data storage in the resort towns of Saanen and Zweisimmen, but it’s safe to say that just about anything could find a well-guarded home in the bedrock.

An association based in Switzerland is helping its European neighbors in their search for a good place to dump nuclear waste.

Ten nations have enlisted the aid of Baden-based Arius, or Association for Regional and International Underground Storage. They hope to consolidate their radioactive waste within a single location.

It was a telecommute day in Switzerland.

Some extra sleep, a leisurely breakfast and no need to leave the house – it sounds an awful lot like a lazy Saturday morning.

However, it could also be the start of a full workday for people whose jobs and employers allow them to telecommute. May 18 was Switzerland’s first national Home Office Day.
