Elected this past March, Corine Mauch is Zurich’s first female mayor as well as the city’s first openly gay mayor. In a recent interview with “Out Traveler,” she offered travel tips for those planning to visit Zurich during the EuroPride. With nearly 4,000 creatures living in the Zurich Zoo, it’s only natural that there are ample opportunities for visitors to connect with them. Yet some of the zoo’s programmes are quite unusual. For example, how about fixing and serving lunch for the penguins? Or letting a gentle tarantula help you brush away arachnophobia? Or getting married with primates as your witnesses?

With so many prime pieces on display, the current exhibition at Zurich’s Museum of Design is comparable to a greatest hits album. “Every Thing Design” is the first show featuring material from all four of the museum’s collections, which include posters, design, applied art and graphics.

Carnival creations by Basman
More than 70 shops and ateliers will join forces this weekend to host the third annual “Kreislauf 4+5” – a major Zurich fashion and design event. The two-day open-house is a chance to discover the rich array of independent designers and boutiques based in neighbourhoods along Zurich’s Langstrasse.
