Every year, a team of international doctors flies from Switzerland to Mexico. There they visit the poorest communities, where nutritional deficiencies often lead to cataracts. In addition to performing free operations, they educate local doctors and bring much-needed supplies.

Experts from a variety of fields addressed the issue at the fifth annual European Futurists Conference Lucerne (EFCL) on Thursday and Friday. Altogether, about 130 people from 17 nations took part.
